WelcomeMission statementAs PhD students in Bioinformatics, we recognize that in the future, often we will have consulting roles whether in academics or industry. This is akin to the position that Statisticians hold, where they participate in their own theory, but spend a considerable amount of time consulting with researchers. These consultations also push many new theoretical papers in Statistics that would not have previously been of interest. This is a model from which we created the Bioinformatics Laboratory. Many students independently find/create programs and scripts that they use to solve their problems. Though this approach teaches students to work independently, it does not allow them to interact with other colleagues in the development, organization, and solution to research oriented problems. Bioinformatics Laboratory is a forum for the exchange of experience, knowledge, and resources that acts as a catalyst for effective research. Who's whoMember Directory AcknowledgementThe Bioinformatics Laboratory is an initiative by the students in the BCB Program at Iowa State. Sponsorship for the infrastructure comes from the BCB Program. We would like to specially acknowledge the support and encouragement the project received from the following people: Trish Stauble, Program Assistant, BCB and IGERT Dr. Drena Dobbs, IGERT Director Dr. Chris Tuggle, Chair, BCB Program Dr. Robert Jernigan, Director, L.A.
